Trailer for new Madeleine McCann documentary released

Netflix

Published at 12:47pm 14th March 2019.

The British girl was on holiday in Portugal with her parents Gerry and Kate McCann and twin siblings, when she disappeared in 2007.

Over the past 12 years, millions of pounds have been spent to locate her.

Her whereabouts still remain unknown.

Netflix is now releasing a documentary, looking into the case and incorporates interviews from 40 contributors, in an attempt to shed light on it.

Kate and Gerry McCann refused to take part in the programme, and said in a statement on the findmadeleine website:

"We are aware that Netflix are planning to screen a documentary in March 2019 about Madeleine’s disappearance. The production company told us that they were making the documentary and asked us to participate.

"We did not see and still do not see how this programme will help the search for Madeleine and, particularly given there is an active police investigation, could potentially hinder it.

"Consequently, our views and preferences are not reflected in the programme.

"We will not be making any further statements or giving interviews regarding this programme."

It'll be on the streaming website tomorrow (March 15th 2019).
