Guildford Teen Wowed Judges In Britain's Got Talent Semi Final

Published at 10:03pm 1st June 2017. (Updated at 12:22pm 27th November 2018)

Guildford teenager Reuben Gray has wowed the judges and made Surrey proud in the Britiain's Got Talent semi final on the Thursday Night live show.

But he did not secure enough votes to get through to the final.

For the second time in the contest, the 16 year old sang one of his own songs in last night's semi-final.

Amanda and David liked it, but Simon and Alesha were less impressed.

They said they did not like his song choice - and that it did not match up to his audition song, Lifeline.

The Semi Finals...

When speaking to the Peter Gordon Breakfast Show this week ahead of his semi-final performance, Reuben revealed he'd be performing another original song.

“I’m going to be approaching it tonight with another one of my own songs, and nd I’m taking a very big risk with that, because I don’t think very many people have done that before”.

“It’s very difficult to get the public to take in your new song very quickly, especially when you’ve only got around two minutes to show them”.

Reuben performed his song Waiting, which he wrote two days before valentines day for his girlfriend as he forgot to buy her a present.

Despite being knocked out of the contest, Reuben has told us he will not give up on his passion:  "I've been gigging for a very long time, and I'm not going to stop.

"I'm always writing - I want to go out and perform all the time."

His first audition...

Reuben moved judges and earned a standing ovation from the crowd in his first audition on the show last month with his song Lifeline. Reuben says he wrote the song for an ex-girlfriend after their relationship broke down.

He was also surprised by his Father in the audience who says he is Reuben's biggest fan!

A huge well done Reuben, even though you didn't make the final, you have made Surrey and Hampshire proud 😃
