Firefighters have battled a huge wildfire on Hazeley Heath in Hook.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue sent multiple crews to help put out the flames which engulfed the nature reserve yesterday (5 April).

Hartley Wintney, Fleet, Rushmoor, Bordon, Alton, Yateley and Basingstoke fire stations were assisted by Surrey Fire and Rescue Service.

Around 15 hectares of undergrowth and gorse were destroyed in the fire.

Crews were still on the scene several hours later to dampen down hot spots.

There have been reports that people were still trying to walk or cycle through burning areas.

Hartley Wintney fire station is this morning urging people to avoid the heath saying there are still hot spots.
