Men attacked with claw hammer in Fleet

Published at 1:07pm 10th March 2020. (Updated at 8:01pm 11th March 2020)

Two men have been attacked with a claw hammer in two separate incidents on the same night in Fleet.

The first victim, a 32 year old man, was at the crossroads between Reading Road North and Harlington Way at 2:30am on 23 February when a group of men approached him and asked for his wallet and phone.

They threatened him with the hammer and swung it towards him.

As the victim lifted his arm to protect himself, the hammer hit him on the elbow causing bruising.

He gave them his wallet and phone before they made off down Harlington Way.

The stolen cards were used at a petrol station shortly afterwards.

Around half an hour later a second victim was attacked near Domino’s Pizza on Reading Road North.

The 28 year old man was approached by a group of men, one of whom was carrying a hammer.

The victim was told to hand over his possessions.

He was struck on the back with the hammer, before throwing his wallet on the ground and running away.
