Two face retrial in Blackwater shooting

Published at 2:28pm 31st October 2019.

Two people accused of assisting an offender after a teenage boy was paralysed following a shooting in Blackwater will now face a re-trial.

A 43 year old man and 51 year old woman had each denied one allegation of assisting an offender, after the attack on the 19 year old in Hearsey Gardens on February 10 2018.

Last Friday (October 25) a jury at Winchester Crown Court found a 17 year old boy from Blackwater not guilty of attempted murder, but guilty of causing grievous bodily harm with intent.

However the jury was unable to come to a verdict on the further two offences.

At a hearing today it was decided that a retrial should take place at Winchester Crown Court on March 2 2020.

The 17 year old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been remanded in custody for sentence at Bristol Crown Court on November 15.
