Hampshire Council to vote on tax rise

Published at 8:10am 22nd February 2018. (Updated at 8:12am 22nd February 2018)

Hampshire residents could be forking out more for council tax - as the County Council votes later on an increase.

If approved, bills will rise by nearly six percent - taking the annual cost for a band D property to over £1200 for 2018/2019.

Three percent of the proposed hike will go towards social care costs.

The proposal will be presented to full council for approval today.

It comes after Surrey County Council voted in favour of a similar increase earlier this month.
