A school in Yateley will reopen tomorrow (December 5) after it was hit by a fire over the weekend.

Potley Hill Primary has been closed today for safety checks following an electrical fault.

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service have told Eagle they were called out to a premises in Potley Hill Road yesterday (December 3) at around 11:15am.

They sent one fire engine from Yateley to reports of a blaze in an extractor fan.

The school informed Eagle that the extractor fan caught alight and fell to the floor - only causing minimal damage.

Firefighters ventilated the property.

Following safety assessments by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service today, the school says all electrics have now been made safe.

In a message to parents the school said it would remain shut today "due to an electrical fault in the building."

It said: "We have been told by the fire brigade that no-one will be allowed back into the building until all the electrics have been checked and certified as safe."

On its website a statement said: "Parents will be updated on Monday 4th with further information."
