3 months of roadworks announced for Hook

Published at 12:02pm 5th July 2017.

Plans for more major roadworks in Hook have been unveiled.

It is part of a scheme to install 3.3 kilometres of water pipes along Reading Road.

South East Water began the project in November 2016 and is almost at the end of the second phase of works.

The final phase is due to begin on August 21st, which will see pipes laid between Red Hill and Vicarage Lane.

It is estimated there will be disruption along Reading Road and the surrounding areas for 14 weeks.

Whilst the work is going on, this section of road will be closed, as will Bottle Lane and Vicarage Lane.

People who live and work in the affected area will still have access.

Matthew Cooper, Project Manager at South East Water, said: "This important scheme will secure water supplies for current and future customers as the community grows.

"I would like to thank local residents, businesses and motorists for their patience while work took place on the first two phases of this scheme.

"We know roadworks can be frustrating but we will be working as quickly as possible on this final section of work to minimise inconvenience to local residents and businesses."

Before the final phase starts, local residents and organisations are being invited to see the proposals and have their say at Heckfield Memorial Hall, Church Lane, Heckfield, RG27 0LG between 4.15 and 6.45pm on Wednesday 5th July.

More information on the proposed scheme can be found on the South East Water website.
