A team of eight Guildford firefighters who ran more than 100km between them have raised over £1,000 for charity.

The team took turns on a treadmill outside of the station during their 12-hour day shift on Sunday (7 June).

The £1,121 raised will go to Surrey's Coronavirus Response Fund and The Fire Fighters Charity, which helps sick and injured firefighters and their families.

The team were set to take on the challenge last Sunday (31 May), but crews had to make their way to Thursley Common to tackle the huge fire.

In total, they ran 147.56km in 12 hours in between 999 calls.
