University of Surrey gives out food to NHS staff

The University of Surrey has been delivering food essentials to hospital workers at the Royal Surrey.

They say it was in response to reports that many NHS staff were facing empty shelves at supermarkets.

Fruit, vegetables and milk were taken to the Royal Surrey County Hospital last Wednesday (25 March).

The team also took cakes and milk to Dray Court, a nearby residential home for older people:

Executive Chef at the University of Surrey, Russell Ednie made the deliveries :

“We would encourage any local catering outlets who have found themselves with more food than they are able to use in this time of lockdown to consider the many deserving groups here in Guildford.

“From elderly residents who are self-isolating for 12 weeks to hospital workers who deserve all the support we can offer them during these challenging times, there are people out there who will make good use of what you have.”
