Guildford awarded Purple Flag status for sixth year

Published at 2:50pm 31st October 2019.

Guildford is going purple for Halloween after it was awarded the Purple Flag accreditation.

Similar to Blue Flag for beaches and Green Flag for parks, it is a scheme that recognises excellence in the management of towns and cities at night - enabling the public to identify centres that offer an entertaining and safe night out.

It is the sixth year that Guildford has been awarded the accreditation - the only Surrey town to have it.

To celebrate receiving it again, Experience Guildford is putting on a treasure hunt with a difference over the next few nights.

From 31 October to 2nd November, the town's business community is inviting people to tour five nightspots and solve the clues of the Experience Guildford Purple Pumpkin Pub Trail.

Participating pubs include:

  • Growlers & Cans
  • The Royal Oak
  • The Three Pigeons
  • The Star Inn
  • The March Hare

There is more information here on the Experience Guildford Purple Pumpkin Pub Trail, Guildford's Purple Flag status and ongoing initiatives to support Guildford town centre's night-time economy.
