Two men have been arrested after a large group of migrants was found in the back of a lorry in Send.

Officers received a call at around 2pm yesterday (June 26) reporting that the vehicle, with a large group of "clandestine migrants on board", was on the A3.

It was eventually stopped in London Road.

Police found 12 people - 10 adults and 2 youths - gathered in the back of the refrigerated trailer unit

They were provided with medical treatment and water.

The youths were taken into police protection while the adults are now being dealt with by Immigration Enforcement.

Two men, aged 26 from Hull, and age 64 years of no fixed address, were arrested for allowing illegal entry to the UK and are currently in custody.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting incident reference PR/P19142070.
