Man suffers "bleed on brain" in serious Guildford assault

Published at 2:50pm 4th June 2019. (Updated at 6:42am 5th June 2019)

A man has suffered a fractured skull and bleed to the brain following a serious assault in Guildford.

It happened during the early hours of last Thursday morning (May 30), near Tesco Express on Bridge Street.

Police say two men who had been in a nearby bar were talking outside.

When one of them walked away, he was followed by the other man who punched him repeatedly, knocking him unconscious.

The attacker made off on foot down Onslow Street and was last spotted running towards the junction with Laundry Road.

He has been described as:

  • White man
  • In his early 20s
  • Approximately 5 ft 10 tall with collar length black hair.

He was wearing a black round-necked T-shirt with white logo across the chest, black jeans, and white trainers.

The victim was taken to hospital, where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Detective Constable Richard Pegden, who is investigating the incident, said;

“I am urging anyone who saw something, or has information, to come forward.

“We believe a number of people went to the assistance of the victim and offered first aid. Some people would have also driven through the area around this time, and might have dashcam footage which could assist us.

Any information you have could be crucial to our investigation. Please call 101 quoting crime reference number PR/45190056491 as soon as possible.”
