"We pray for your son, family and all who knew you" - floral tributes left at scene of Horsley train murder

Published at 1:26pm 7th January 2019.

Floral tributes have been left at Horsley station after a Guildford father of one died in a fatal stabbing.

51-year-old Lee Pomeroy was pronounced dead in a South Western Railway train carriage last Friday afternoon (January 7) after it pulled into the station on its way to London Waterloo.

He suffered "multiple stab wounds" in the incident - which took place a day before his 52nd birthday.

35-year-old Darren Shane Pencille, from Farnham, is due to appear at Guildford Crown Court this afternoon, charged with murdering Mr Pomeroy.

At the weekend, flowers were left at the entrance to the platform, with a note from a local group of churches.

"We are horrified and shocked by yesterday's events and the senseless loss of life.

"We pray for your son, family and all who know you.

"With love and prayers, the Horsley and Ockham Ministry Churches."

At the weekend his family issued a tribute, describing Lee as a "devoted family man" who would "do anything for anyone".

It also said "He was a loving husband and father" and would "be deeply missed by all his family."
