Van driver 'almost three times over drink drive limit' in Ash

Published at 5:02pm 19th December 2018.

The driver of a van in Ash has failed a breathalyser test by blowing almost three times over the drink drive limit.

Surrey Police said the man came to their attention when he arrived at the scene of an incident they were attending and began acting suspiciously.

Officers, who had arrived at the scene at around 10am this morning, said the man was "smelling of alcohol".

He then returned a figure of 103 on a breathalyser test - the legal limit being just 35 microgrammes per 100 millilitres of breath.

The man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol and taken to custody for a further test.

Surrey Police is currently running a drink drive campaign in the run up to Christmas.

If you know someone is driving while over the limit or after taking drugs, you are asked to call 999.

Alternatively, people in Surrey can text officers on 65999 with the details of people they suspect of drink or drug-driving.
