Swan blocks line between Aldershot and Ash Vale

There was disruption to services on South Western Railway between Aldershot and Ash Vale earlier, because of a swan on the tracks.

It has now been rescued and taken to Swan Support, a rescue centre caring for injured swans.

SWR says all lines have reopened.

An eyewitness at Ash Vale station, Ben Kent, said: "This line is close to the Basingstoke canal so potentially with the bad weather the swan lost its bearings and ended up here and appears injured.

"Police and train staff have got the swan now having cut power to the line. It’s been wrapped but is alive."

The situation prompted the usual Hot Fuzz references on social media...
