Firefighters have been battling a blaze that tore through the roof of a house in Guildford.

Surrey Fire and Rescue were called at around 8:30pm last night (November 25) to the property in Rydes Hill Road.

Eight appliances were sent - from Guildford, Woking, Godalming, Painshill, Camberley, Chobham and Farnham, as well as the Aerial Ladder Platform from Leatherhead.

They used three hose reels, one main jet and 6 sets of breathing apparatus to put it out.

It was out after at around 10:30pm.

Firefighters were still there through most of the night damping down.
