Fire crews have dealt with a blaze at George Abbot School in Guildford. 

Surrey Fire and Rescue say it broke out on the first floor of a teaching block at around 12.40pm this afternoon (November 19). 

Five fire engines and an aerial ladder were called to the scene and left just before 4pm. 

All pupils and staff were evacuated safely. 

The cause of the fire is not yet known but an investigation is underway. 

Headteacher, Kate Carriett, said: 

"Early afternoon today, a small localised fire, which was contained to one building, occured at George Abbot School. All students and staff were safely evacuated and accounted for.

"Emergency services are currently at the scene, assessing the situation. 

"School has resumed normal service and students will be dismissed at the end of the day."
