A story that's come full circle...a man who made an Eagle Christmas Wish Appeal come true has donated £500 to Guildford Disability Challengers.

Stu from Farnham was featured in Eagle Radio's Christmas Wish Appeal last year, he was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2004 and has since undergone a number of operations and chemotherapy treatments.

After hearing that he had a passion for VW motors, The Surrey Street Rodders and Rod Monteiro from Retro Campervan in Surrey organised a weekend away for Stu and his family in a VW van.

Surrey Street Rodders offered to pay for the trip, but Rod decided to donate the £500 that he would have made from the rental to Challengers in Guildford.

He said it was a pleasure to help the appeal: "They had a lovely weekend - such a fantastic time.

"He was a real VW fanatic so it really rang true that he was able to enjoy that weekend in the campervan with his family."

Rod visited the children's disability charity today to donate the money: "I thought I would donate the money that we'd received for the campervan hire to Challengers.

"We try and help out any local charities we can - they've got great people and I think they're doing a great job."

He's about to embark on a charity banger rally all in aid of the cause.

A spokesperson for the charity said: "It's really special that we have local companies supporting a local cause

"It will be used to provide lots of fun activities, outbound trips and just to really bring smiles to lots of childrens' faces".
