Firefighters have been tackling a huge blaze at Ash Ranges near Ash Vale overnight.

It broke out yesterday afternoon (September 19) in the military training area off Pirbright Road, near to the Dolley's Hill Mobile Home Park.

Surrey Fire and Rescue were called out at 3:35pm yesterday to find 12 hectares alight.

They initially sent 13 teams - comprising 3 fire engines and 10 special appliances, including 4x4s, unimogs and two water carriers - but several more were sent through the night.

Surrey Search and Rescue were deployed to assist in tackling the flames.

Drone footage obtained by the emergency services reveal a large section of heathland on fire.

Four teams from SFRS are still there this morning damping down.
