Police search for 'good samaritan' in Shere crash

Police are looking to trace a man who stopped to help after a crash in Shere. 

It happened at around 8.20am along Sandy Lane on Saturday (25 August).

Officers were called there following reports of an abandoned black Audi A3 partly blocking the road.

The car was damaged and all airbags were deployed.

Police Constable Mel Tregay, who is investigating the incident said: “We are looking to speak to a man who we believe witnessed the incident and helped the driver after the collision.

“We are also appealing for other witnesses who may have seen the incident to come forward with any information and help us establish the exact circumstances.”

A 27-year-old man from Cranleigh was arrested and charged with drink-driving. 

He will appear at Guildford Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 11 September.
