Boy and woman attacked outside school in Guildford

A teenage boy and a woman have been attacked by a stranger in Guildford.

It happened in Burpham on Tuesday (June 26) at around 4:40pm.

A man first assaulted the woman in Woodruff Aveue, before assaulting the boy in the road outside George Abbott School.

A 49-year-old man is in custody after he was arrested on suspicion of causing actual bodily harm.

The woman was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The boy had minor injuries but did not seek medical attention.

Police are appealing for witnesses.

Guildford Neighbourhood Inspector Andy Hill said: “We understand that this incident will cause concern in the community however I hope it is reassuring that we made a quick arrest at the scene.

“While we are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident, we are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Woodruff Avenue, near George Abbot School or Charlock Way in Guildford, between 4.30 and 5.15pm (on June 26) with any information or with any mobile phone footage of the incident to contact us.

“If you were in a vehicle at that time in that area, and you have a dashboard camera, please check the footage and call us if you have anything that could help us with our enquiries. Anyone with information is asked to call us on 101, quoting crime reference number PR/45180067337.”
