Firefighters are still at Whitmoor Common near Guildford after a blaze broke out yesterday (21 June).

Surrey Fire and Rescue Service have told Eagle today that around 14 hectares of land - the size of nearly 12 football pitches - has been burnt after the heathland and woodland area went up in flames.

It broke out at around 1pm yesterday on the Common, north of Guildford next Worplesdon and Jacobs Well.

Smoke could be seen billowing across Guildford.

Several fire engines, specialist vehicles and water carriers were sent to fight the flames.

This morning, two fire crews are still at the site.
