Two people have been arrested after an attempted jewellery heist in Guildford town centre.

Maunder Watch Co's front window was badly damaged when the offenders tried to break in on Sunday morning (27 May).

They got out of a vehicle on North Street shortly before the attempted burglary at around 11:25am.

Police are keen to hear from any potential witnesses as many members of the public were close by at the time.

Detective Constable Anthony Gravener said “We are determined to catch the people involved in this incident and we want to assure members of the public that we are pursuing all lines of enquiry.

“Any information from the public is vital and I would urge anyone with information about this incident to get in contact with us as quickly as possible.”

Officers say those arrested have been released under investigation while further lines of enquiry are pursued.

They are asking anyone with any information on the incident to call 101, quoting reference number PR/45180055468.
