Guildford A25 Parkway roadworks delayed for 2 weeks

Published at 2:26pm 10th April 2018. (Updated at 4:13pm 10th April 2018)

Roadworks to improve safety along Guildford's A25 Parkway have been delayed.

A 20 week project to install a wider path for cyclists and pedestrians was meant to begin on Monday 9 April, with the southbound carriageway set for a 24 hour closure.

But despite signs warning locals of disruption, the road has remained open.

Surrey County Council's website now says the work will begin on 23 April, two weeks later than originally planned.

A statement from the council says the work has been delayed due to 'technical issues'.

This advice has been given for when the work does start:

It is essential to keep the road and parking bays free from parked vehicles whilst we are working outside your property, please park elsewhere otherwise your vehicle may be towed.

There will be some noise but we will try to keep this to a minimum

If you use the bus, check with your bus operator to find out if there are any alterations to the service during these roadworks. You'll find all Surrey's operators and their websites listed here.

Meanwhile, just around the corner Stoke Road is shut northbound between the crossroads and Joseph's Road until Friday.

"Essential gas works" are underway to connect a property to SGN, with a mile-long diversion in place for drivers.
