High value jewellery stolen from family home in Guildford

A number of high value items have been stolen from a house in Guildford.

The family home in Admirals Court was broken into on Saturday 10 February.

Police are now appealing for the public's help in getting it back.

PC Matt Griffiths, who is investigating the incident said: "Fortunately they thought to take photographs of the items which will help us with trying to locate them.

“Please can I ask you to keep your eyes peeled for the distinctive items shown in the photographs? Have a good look at them, and if you have any information please call 101 quoting reference PR/45180015469."

The burglary has prompted officers to issue safety advice on protecting jewellery.

Their top tips are:

  • Keep all jewellery and other valuables in a bank safety deposit box
  • If you have to keep your jewellery at home, invest in a home safe. Your insurance company will provide advice as to the best safe to suit your needs
  • Keep an inventory of your jewellery, either on paper or via a company such as immobilise.com; include identifying marks and the value
  • Check your home insurance to ensure that it covers keeping high-value jewellery at home
  • Install a house alarm and security lighting. Always make sure doors and windows are locked and secure when you go out
  • Make sure your home looks occupied when you are out or away. Use an automatic timer switch to turn interior lights on and off
  • Use forensic marking to uniquely mark your jewellery. Visit securedbydesign.com for more information
