Two charged over knifepoint Guildford robbery

Two men have been charged after a woman was robbed at knifepoint in Guildford.

She was walking along Walnut Tree Close just after 5.20am on Sunday, January 14 when it happened.

She was approached by two men.

One of the men threatened her with a knife and demanded that she hand over her wallet.

He grabbed her mobile phone and headphones and both men ran off towards the train station car park.

Mohamad Basatinh, 19, of Wharf Road, Guildford, and Mongi Khathi, 20, of Linden Court, Leatherhead, were charged with robbery and intimidating a witness.

The pair appeared at Staines Magistrate’s Court yesterday (20 February).

Mongi was remanded in custody and Basatinh has been released on bail.

They are both due to appear at Guildford Crown Court on 22 March.
