Man knocked out in suspected Guildford assault

Published at 4:26pm 5th February 2018. (Updated at 4:44pm 5th February 2018)

A man has been left in hospital with head injuries after an incident in Guildford town centre during the early hours of Sunday morning.

He was found unconscious in the Bridge Street area at 12:32am, which was later cordoned off.

Police are looking for a man seen in the area at the time and are asking anyone whether they witnessed an assault.

Detective Constable Richard Pegden, who is investigating the case, said: "The area was heavily populated with club goers and people heading back towards the train station, so I am confident that several people would have seen the incident itself or the build up to it.

"The traffic in Bridge Street was impacted at the time too, so I am also asking motorists whether they witnessed any assault."

So far, no arrests have been made.

The man officers are looking for is described as:

  • White
  • Approximately 6ft tall
  • Between 19-20 years old
  • Short light brown hair
  • Clean shave

They say he was wearing:

  • A long sleeve white top
  • A dark pair of jeans
  • A pair of white trainers

DC Pegden added: "I am urging anybody who witnessed anything suspicious last Sunday morning, in the Bridge Street area, to contact the police and help us piece together what happened."
