Red skies light up Surrey and Hampshire

Published at 5:10pm 19th December 2017. (Updated at 11:51am 20th December 2017)

There was a spectacular sky over Surrey and Hampshire on Tuesday (December 19) evening.

The skies lit up pink and red, with many people in our area taking to social media to share their snaps.

The sunset followed a cold and bright day across our two counties, with highs of around 8 degrees Celsius.

It also came after a foggy start to the day, with a Met Office yellow weather warning in place.

So, how can we predict a good sunset?

Apparently this is what we have to look out for..

  1. Mid to high level clouds.
  2. 30 to 70 percent cloud coverage.
  3. Clean air.
  4. Lower humidity.
  5. Calm winds.
