Free first-aid in Guildford on key December nights out

Published at 6:01am 9th December 2017.

Free first-aid will be available in Guildford on key nights out this month.

Those who end up injured whilst partying in the town will be able to go to a fixed point on North Street to get help for non-emergency minor injuries.

It is hoped this will reduced the strain on A&E.

Manned by trained health care workers and volunteers from St John Ambulance and South East Coast Ambulance Service, the service will run between 11pm and 4am on eight nights during December.

They are:

  • Saturday 9 December 2017
  • Friday 15 December 2017
  • Saturday 16 December 2017
  • Monday 18 December 2017
  • Friday 22 December 2017
  • Saturday 23 December 2017
  • Saturday 30 December 2017
  • Sunday 31 December 2017

999 should always be called in an emergency, but with the festive period being a busy time of year for hospitals we are being reminded that A&E should be there for people who really need it.

NHS Guildford and Waverley Clinical Commissioning Group, Guildford Borough Council, St John Ambulance, Experience Guildford and South East Coast Ambulance are leading the joint initiative.

The fixed point on North Street will be opposite The Friary shopping centre, near Nando's and Jamie's Italian.
