Flames defenceman named EIHL Player of the Week

Published at 9:55am 28th November 2017.

Guildford Flames defenceman Calle Ackered has picked up the Elite Ice Hockey League Player of the Week Award.

The 26 year-old scored once and bagged six assists over the weekend as the Flames recorded back to back wins against Dundee and Milton Keynes.

Ackered joined the Guildford side in the summer from Swedish Division 1 side Östersunds IK.

He is currently the leading defenceman in the league in both goals, scoring 10, and points, picking up 29.

The weekend wins move Guildford up to 7th in the Elite League table.

Paul Dixon's side take on Dundee again in the league this Saturday, before playing Belfast on Sunday.
