Guildford Flames enjoyed a weekend of back-to-back wins in their first Elite League four point weekend.

Paul Dixon's side secured a 5-4 home win over Coventry Blaze in the cup on Saturday, despite blowing a 3-0 lead.

Brett Ferguson broke through to score 23 seconds into overtime to bank the first win of the weekend.

Head Coach Paul Dixon said: "I guess if we were evaluating the night on entertainment value, we did a good job of delivering on that.

"However, we would have liked to have seen us play a lot tighter to ensure we didn't end up in the position of needing overtime and possibly risking defeat in a game where we were in control after a couple of periods."

On Sunday the Flames travelled to Fife in the league.

Kruise Reddick scored the first goal of the game and the only goal of the first period to give Guildford the lead.

Another from Reddick and further goals from Lundin, Rachinski and Dunbar ensured a 5-3 win for Paul Dixon's side.

He said: "Considering the journey requirements we started off very well, and with a lot of energy.

"Every line really played strong in the 1st period."

"Fife definitely stepped it up a gear in the 2nd, but we defended well, kept them to the outside, and were able to still generate a bit of our own pressure and get some success around the net to keep a good lead.

"Both teams had some penalty trouble in the 3rd, but our penalty killing did an outstanding job especially disposing of the 3 on 5 situation when they were just a goal away from tying it up.

"No question that was a key moment in the game, and we didn't give in on it."
