Building site break-in at old Guildford fire station

Published at 6:00am 20th September 2017.

Thieves have broken into and stolen from a building site in Guildford based at the old fire station.

They forced their way through fencing around the site, before making their way into a portable building being used as an office.

A large quantity of tools and cable were taken from the premises.

It happened sometime between 6:30pm on Tuesday 12 September and 6am on Wednesday 13 September.

Surrey Police is investigating the incident and anyone with any information is asked to contact them on 101, quoting the reference number 45170100737.

According to boarding surrounding the site, the new building will be a furniture store come December this year.

The area used to be home to the town's iconic fire station which dated back to around 1936.

After around 80 years of service, it was knocked down in April 2016.

Before the demolition, Guildford's brand new fire station was built next door and completed in May 2015.
