Guildford charity shop targeted by heartless thieves

Published at 4:08pm 14th September 2017.

Heartless thieves have stolen a collection box destined for a Surrey charity.

It was taken from the Phyllis Tuckwell charity shop on Woodbridge Hill in Guildford.

Staff believe it was stolen on Wednesday afternoon.

The blue collection box was positioned by the shop's till and secured with a chain.

Whilst a member of staff was distracted, having been asked to look for items at the back of the shop, the thief or thieves removed the chain and took the box.

The police have been informed, but if you have any information on the theft, you are being asked to contact them.

The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice, which provides end of life care, needs to raise more than £20,000 every day to offer hospice care free of charge.

Only 20 per cent of its funding comes from the NHS.
