Delays on trains towards Guildford

Published at 7:37am 26th July 2017. (Updated at 8:06am 26th July 2017)

There is disruption on some South West Trains services in Surrey this morning - with ten minute delays.

It is affecting services between Bookham and Effingham Junction going south on the Guildford-bound line.

There are delays of up to ten minutes after a track defect was found yesterday which blocked the line.

South West Trains said: Our engineers have been working overnight and have made a temporary repair allow the line to be reopened.

"Trains travelling from Bookham to Effingham Junction will have to travel at 5MPH in the affected area which may lead to delays.

"Due to the complex nature of the fault, our engineers are aiming to carry out the works, overnight on Wednesday July 26."

The reduced speed limit over the affected track will be in place throughout today.

The rail company has apologised for the disruption and is advising if passengers need help with their journey, to contact station staff, use a help point or visit their website
