One lane reopens on A31 Hogs Back after emergency repairs

Published at 6:57am 23rd June 2017.

One lane has reopened on the A31 Westbound this morning (June 23), following emergency repairs.

Part of the road surface's tarmac melted in extreme heat this week.

Emergency resurfacing was underway - but contractors have now reopened one lane.

The section affected is along the westbound carriageway of the A31 between the A3 slip road and 300m past the Puttenham turning.

There's a warning that they will have to close the A31 again overnight to continue the repairs.

Surrey County Council said: "We are now required to carry out emergency resurfacing of 3km of road on both lanes westbound.

"The westbound carriageway will be closed from Thursday 22 June 2017 for seven nights between 9pm and 6am (excluding weekends).

"Unfortunately due to the location of these works we are unable to maintain access for residents, except in emergencies.

"If you are a resident and have an emergency please contact us."
