DUCK cools off in Guildford Lido on hottest June day

Published at 5:54pm 21st June 2017. (Updated at 7:09pm 21st June 2017)

It's the hottest June day since 1976 - and we all have to stay cool in the scorching heat somehow.

A duck was been spotted swimming in Guildford Lido this afternoon (June 21).

It didn't seem to bother some swimmers who stayed in the pool whilst he took a dip (..at least he stayed in his lane!)

The sighting came on the same day that the Lido celebrated its 84th birthday - on the hottest and longest day of the year.

It's also the hottest summer solstice on record - the previous high was 31-point-7 degrees in London in 1936.

It seems he wasn't the only bird to fancy a swim in the sizzling temperatures.

As the afternoon went on, more and more people appeared to be un-phased by the splash-happy duck.

The Met Office has confirmed it's the fifth consecutive day temperatures have gone above 30.

Happy Swimming!
