NSPCC 'obstacle' fundraiser comes to Frimley

Families in Frimley are set to raise money for the NSPCC today in the charity's 'Messathon'.

The event is taking place at Frimley Lodge Park and involved a 2.5km obstacle course - with a difference.

It encourages those taking part to get as messy as possible, as they become 'Messathletes'.

The course will take them through mud, water slides and they'll be asked to scramble over hay bales.

Every penny that is raised will help the NSPCC be there for children, whatever obstacles life puts in their way.

Once families finish the course, they can make a day of it by visiting the event village and enjoy the attractions on offer.

Head of Region for Fundraising at the NSPCC, Rupa-Dey Amin, says: “Messathon is the perfect event for bringing families together, getting them active, working as a team and of course, the one thing that most children love to do…getting messy!

“Messathletes will have a fantastic time tackling several obstacles and challenges around the course, all in aid of the NSPCC.

"We wish all participants good luck in their fundraising and we would like to thank all those parents and children who by getting messy will help to keep other children safe.”

Victoria Kellaway, NSPCC's Senior Fundraising Manager said Frimley Lodge Park was one of their “stand-out venues”:

“From a family perspective, it’s got everything on site. It’s a huge park, and part of our course is actually running in through the trees, and really taking in the whole natural environment – which is exciting for kids because it’s a part of being messy, really enjoying it and having fun”.
