Up to 40,000 visitors expected at Surrey County Show

Published at 7:00am 29th May 2017.

Today is the day of the Surrey County Show in Guildford!

With 35,000-40,000 estimated visitors this year, it is set to be a big day out.

There will be hundreds of different animals, including sheep, cattle, pigs and donkeys.

There is even a dog ring featuring dog agility, horse jumping in the Grand Arena and a live milking parlour.

We're also told there will be extra security patrols, following the national terror threat level being raised to critical.

Chief Executive of the Surrey County Agricultural Society is Simon Barnes, who said: “For me the highlight is being able to show people a bit of the countryside, a bit of farming.

“It’s so various what’s happening here.

“We are the only county show in an urban area like this.

“Just come along, enjoy yourselves because this is a very unique event, we’re here for one day and then we’ll be gone and it’ll be another year before you get the chance to come so come and make the most of it, come and enjoy the day.”
