Guildford Flames make first Elite League signing

The Guildford Flames have made their first Elite League signing in former Great Britain Jr. and Sr. skater Ben Davies.

The 26 year-old moves from Coventry Blaze, where he netted 4 goals and 14 points in 39 starts.

Elsewhere Davies has had 13 starts with team GB, icing at the world championships in 2013 and 2014, as well as a three game Olympic Qualifier representation in 2016.

“I'm really excited about playing for Guildford and looking forward to next season" Davies said.

“I know Guildford have a fantastic fan base from playing against the Flames in the past, and it will be great to see that week in week out.”

Flames Head Coach Paul Dixon had this to say on the new addition: "Ben is an experienced Elite league player and for that reason alone he is a good addition as we try to find our footing in our first season at that level.

“He skates well, can kill penalties, and he can fit into a variety of situations to help us build depth up the middle of the ice.

“In the EPL, our roster building outlook was on a team we could put together to win the title by making some relatively minor adjustments based on our existing group.  It was focused on how the team might end the season”

"Ben’s resume proves he fits that perspective, and we are really looking forward to his role in our inaugural Elite League season.”
