Police are investigating a stabbing in Guildford.

A man was attacked last night (April 24) in the Stoughton area.

The assault is believed to have taken place in an alleyway in Worplesdon Road, behind the Shell petrol station.

Officers were called by staff there, at around 7:20pm, after they noticed the man when he went in to buy a drink.

It is not known what time he suffered the injury.

His condition is not known - police say he refused medical treatment.

Officers are reassuring the local community that the victim and his attacker were known to each other - and that this was not a random attack.

A thorough search of the area was carried out and enquiries remain ongoing.

If you have any information you are urged to contact the police on 101, quoting incident reference P17097745.
