Flames shutout Storm

Chris Carrozzi had a shutout, Kevin King had a pair and TJ Foster’s first with the club followed a Kruise Reddick goal as the Flames produced a 4-0 home win over Manchester Storm.

Kevin King gets the first for the Flames

Flames opened the scoring during a 4 on 4 run with King waiting for an opening while playing an extended game of keep away in the offensive zone. He delivered a pass then headed to the net where Ben Davies set him up for the 1-0 finish.   Inside the period’s last 5 minutes, Reddick and John Dunbar’s give and go created a quality shot by the latter and a rebound for the former, who tucked it away to double the lead.

Spectrum’s men peppered the Storm net with 18 2nd period shots but it was only a shorthanded goal that counted in the frame with Foster putting on a burst of outside speed before slamming home the 3-0 marker.

About halfway through the final frame, a penalty box parade set the Flames to a 4 on 3 advantage that a became 5 on 3 during a delayed penalty in which the home team added the 4th, and final of the night, with King’s one time blast.

“I thought we were in control for most of the 60 minutes,” said Head Coach Paul Dixon. “We worked hard and we played well.”

“We used our speed to full effect and we were on top of them quickly when the puck was deep in their end, and we were able to create a lot of good shots and opportunities.”

“It got a bit heated near the end there, but we got through that and are glad to have closed the weekend with 4 points.”
