Guildford Flames make more roster changes

The Guildford Flames ice hockey club have released 25 year old Defenceman Rasmus Edström.  The former Swedish Jr. International iced 17 games with Spectrum’s team, recording 2 assists and 2 penalty minutes.

Edström spent last season with Allsvenskan outfit  VIK Västerås HK where he iced 45 times while recording 3 goals and 6 assists.  The 6’0”, 190lb blueliner iced the previous pair of seasons in the same league at IF Björklöven, starting 68 games across that 2 term stretch.  His first taste at his country’s top level came in 2009-2010, while still at Jr. age, when he dressed with Skellefteå AIK for 1 game.  In 2011-2012 he made 35 appearances at the Elite Level while delivering 2 goals and 8 points.  Over 5 seasons at Skellefteå, including his first try and his last appearance at the top of the domestic pyramid, the Glommersträsk native played 104 times, scoring 3 goals and 14 points while holding +6 plus-minus rating.  His roster credits include the 2013-2014 Swedish League title and the Silver medal placing 2 seasons prior.  In 118 Allsvenskan starts, he has 5 goals and 16 points.

“With the addition of Mike Krieg to the roster we have had to make a decision about our defensive group,” explained Paul Dixon, “and at this time we believe this is the best decision for the club moving into the final bit  of the season.”

“We wish Rasmus all the best with his search for a new club either here, in Sweden or in mainland Europe.”
