Two Guildford Flames players backtrack on 2017/18 signing

Published at 4:44pm 10th July 2017.

Two Guildford Flames players, who both signed with the club in early Spring, will not be playing in the 2017/18 season.

Michal Satek and Mike Ratchuk have pulled out ahead of the Elite League move.

Satek was part of last season's EPL roster and signed a new deal at the end of the season, however he asked for permission to move to a club in a different country - this has been granted.

Separately, Ratchuk, who also signed following the end of last season, gave 'extenuating personal reasons' meaning that he will be unable to leave home for a period of time.

Head Coach Paul Dixon said: "We were looking forward to having both players on the roster.

"Mike was very apologetic for his inability to honour his commitment to our first top flight season, but we recognise there are more important things in life than hockey.

"We wish Mike the very best in dealing with his circumstances moving forward.

"We also thank Michal for his contribution this past season, and wish him the best with his new club.”

“We are still in the recruiting phase of our preparations for next season, of course, and we will back up a bit to make sure we cover the spots opened with these changes.”
