Burpham Neighbourhood Forum consultation dates announced

Published at 3:20pm 1st March 2018.

On 4 February 2013, the Burpham Neighbourhood Area (Burpham ward) and the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum were formally designated by the Council. This forum has subsequently been responsible for producing the Burpham Neighbourhood Plan, which is used to help make planning decisions in the area.

Under existing legislation, a forum's designations last for five years and therefore the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum ceased to exist on 5 February 2018. The Burpham Neighbourhood Area and the Burpham Neighbourhood Plan are not affected by the forum ending.

The members of the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum have applied to continue in the role they have performed for the past five years. You can find their application online at: https://getinvolved.guildford.gov.uk/consult.ti/BNF18/consultationHome along with full details of the consultation, which begins on 19 February.

Printed copies of the application are also available to view at the following locations:

  • Guildford Borough Council main offices at Millmead House, Millmead, Guildford, Surrey GU2 4BB during normal office hours.

  • Guildford Library, 77 North Street, Guildford, Surrey GU1 4AL during opening hours.

Residents are invited to comment on the application with the consultation lasting six weeks, ending on 2 April. A decision on whether to re-designate the forum will be then made.

Comments submitted as part of the consultation should focus on whether the Burpham Neighbourhood Forum should be designated as the forum for the Burpham Neighbourhood Area. The online comments form can be found on the Consultation web page, the details for which are given above.

Comments can also be submitted by email or post to:

Burpham Neighbourhood Forum Consultation, Planning Policy, Guildford Borough Council, Millmead House, Guildford, GU2 4BB.

After the consultation has ended in April, we will publish comments, but will not publish your name or personal details such as email and postal address. Please note we will not accept anonymous comments.

If the designation is made, no other body or organisation may be designated as the forum for the Burpham Neighbourhood Area until the designation expires in 5 years' time, or it is withdrawn.
