Who were the winners at Guildford Design Awards 2017?

At an awards ceremony held at the Guildhall in Guildford (7 November) a range of recently completed building projects that have been judged to have improved the architecture, heritage, conservation and sustainability of the borough were honoured.

The Guildford Design Awards aim to celebrate and promote exciting and innovative building design, as well as encouraging high quality development in the future.

Award winners and commended entries received framed certificate which were presented to them by the Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Nigel Manning and Cllr Paul Spooner, Leader of Guildford Borough Council, which runs and hosts the annual awards.

Each project is judged on its individual merits by an independent panel of five judges whose professions include architect, landscape architect, and a mechanical engineer who specialises in energy and environmental systems.

  • Beech Cottage, Guildford - renovation (pictured below left). Entered by the owners

  • Twiga Lodge, Gomshall - environmental sustainability. Entered by the owners

  • Catherine's Walk, Guildford - new build. Entered by SCD Architects

  • Skyridge, Peaslake - environmental sustainability Entered by LEATHWAITE
