Proposal to cut speed limit on Alton road

Published at 12:01pm 10th April 2019.

People living in Alton have until the end of the month to have their say on a proposed reduction of the speed limit along New Odiham Road.

The move by Hampshire County Council would see the stretch of the B3349 leading to the junction with Basingstoke Road go from 40mph to 30mph.

A consultation on the plans opened earlier this month and will run until 30 April.

The change would mean the only 40mph roads in the area would be sections of the A339 Basingstoke Road and Medstead Road on the edge of the town.

Further details on the proposal can be found at Alton Library or at the offices of East Hampshire District and Hampshire County Councils.

Those with objections to the plans must be submit them in writing and state the reasons for the objections.
