A fundraising page has seen more than £1,500 raised, after a British Legion Silent Soldier was stolen from outside a warehouse in Aldershot on Redan Hill.

He was taken on Thursday morning sometime during the early hours between midnight and 7am.

It was bought as a mark of respect for those who fought in the war.  It had been up for two weeks.

Well over a thousand pounds had been raised soon after it had been put online.  It's target was only £300. You can see the page and donate here.

Grace Mitchell who works at the Penn Warehouse said:

"We're really gutted.  I can't believe someone would do it and to come back on Thursday morning to see him gone was devastating.

"A lot of people who work here have links to the military, bet they fathers, husbands etc.  It meant a lot to us.

"They have come with tools to do this.  They have taken the time to unscrew him from his fixings.  Please give him back.  We miss him."
