92-year-old man rescued from burning Fleet home

Published at 8:14am 16th June 2018. (Updated at 8:15am 16th June 2018)

A 92-year-old pensioner has been rescued from his burning home in Fleet.

Neighbours had called 999 just before 6pm on Friday evening (June 16).

Firefighters in breathing apparatus carried the man out of his chalet bungalow to safety last night.

The man was given emergency medical care by firefighters and taken to hospital suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation, but was not seriously injured.

The fire spread to the roof of the building and it took around 35 firefighters to extinguish the flames.

The property was severely damaged by the fire but no-one else was injured in the incident.
