Thousands without power in Bordon and Liphook

Published at 10:27am 2nd June 2017. (Updated at 11:06am 2nd June 2017)

A power outage in Bordon and Liphook has left thousands of homes without electricity this morning.

Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) said it is affecting around 2,000 properties in both towns.

The power was cut just after 9:30am.

SSEN said it happened when a third party contractor damaged one of their underground cables.

A spokesperson for the company said engineers were on site and working to fix the problem

She said so far, around 1,000 homes have had their electricity restored.

The other 1,000 should have their power back by the middle of the day.

She said the company apologises to all customers affected.
